Monkeys

Most time we need think twice before following the band wagon/taking some decisions.
Here is a report based on an actual experiment conducted in the United Kingdom.

Eight monkeys were put in a room. In the middle of the room is a ladder, leading to a bunch of bananas hanging from a hook on the ceiling.

Each time a monkey tries to climb the ladder, all the monkeys are sprayed with ice water, which makes them miserable.
Soon enough, whenever a monkey attempts to climb the ladder, all of the other monkeys, not wanting to be sprayed, set upon him and beat him up. Soon, none of the eight monkeys ever attempts to climb the ladder.

One of the original monkeys is then removed,  and a new monkey is put in the room. Seeing the bananas and the ladder, he wonders why none of the other monkeys are doing the obvious. But undaunted, he immediately begins to climb the ladder.

All the other monkeys fall upon him and beat him silly. He has no idea why.

However, he no longer attempts to climb the ladder.

A second original monkey is removed and replaced. The newcomer again attempts to climb the ladder, but all the other monkeys hammer the chap out of him.

This includes the previous new monkey, who, grateful that he's not on the receiving end this time, participates in the beating because all the other monkeys are doing it. However, ha has no idea why he's attacking the new monkey.

One by one, all the original monkeys are replaced. Eight new monkeys are now in the room. None of them have ever been sprayed by ice water. None of them attempt to climb the ladder. All of them will enthusiastically Beag up any new monkey who tries,  without having any idea why.
And that is how traditions, religions and systems get established and followed.

It would make more sense if you get your own understanding  rather than blindly following a tradition, religion or system.

COMPLICATIONS

This is all that I have learnt: God made us plain and simple, but we have made ourselves very complicated. (Eccles 7:29 GNB).
I found that scripture very interesting almost six years ago.
The word complication actually jumped at me, picked my dictionary to see the meaning and origin of the word, it's Latin complicatio(n-), complicare ‘fold together’, from com- ‘together’ + plicare ‘to fold’.
I now see that God actually made us plain in the real sense.
Man went ahead to fold together what God made plain.
Hmn...even very complicated, that is to say much folded than necessary.
Never let go of loyalty and faithfulness. Tie them round your neck; write them on your heart.
If you do this, both God and people will be pleased with you (Provide 3:2-4)

Such a time like this...

Until we place value on human life, things may never get better.
The greatest commandment has been to Love God and the other
like it is Love your neighbour.
Here now, your neighbour does not mean the person that leaves
next door to you.
It's about you doing good to as many as you can in what ever capacity you can.
Such a time like this our Love talk must be made to walk by giving a hand to that person that needs it, the person does not have to necessarily ask for it.
Such a time like this we must pray.
Recent occurrence in our land #Nigeria is so heart breaking...
Such a time like this we must not keep silent especially in prayer.
Oh Lord Arise! In your mighty power and fight this battle. Amen.

"You can't take it with you"

This is Adapted from Secrets of Super Achievers.
The miser who lives for himself dies miserably.
I am reminded of one of such man who as he reached the end of his days,
decided to try to cheat the old maxim, "You can't take it with you".
Summoning his Lawyer, Doctor, and Minister to his bedside, he entrusted to each an envelope containing $100,000 cash.
" I have no friends, and you gentlemen are the only one's I can trust" he said, " what I have given you is the sum total of my life savings.
I want you each to swear a solemn pledge to throw your envelope with its money into my grave when they begin to bury me". The three men agreed to fulfill this task, and about a month later the old miser died.
When the first clods fell on the coffin, so too did the three envelopes as the Doctor, Lawyer and Minister stood seriously at the graveyard.
After the funeral, the three decided to join each other for a drink.
It wasn't long before the Doctor spoke up. "Sirs, I have to confess. My practice have been very difficult, my wife has developed a serious drinking problem and money has been in short supply. I took $30,000 out of my envelope and only threw in $70,000".
There was a moments silence and then the Lawyer began to speak. "I too must get this off my chest. These last twelve months have been very difficult for me. I have developed a gambling addiction that has almost destroyed my life. I took out $70,000 and only threw in $30,000."
The minister, as you can well imagined, was shocked by these admissions.
He stood up and addressed both men. "Gentlemen, I cannot believe you have broken your pledges in this matter. I want you both to know that I threw in a check for the full amount!"

Grateful heart.

It's the dawn of a new day, like play the boy is a man...
Three decades up the ladder of life, it's God's doing.
With a heart of praise, mouth filled with shouts of joy,
I am saying thank you Lord.
I look behind me and you're there, then up ahead and you're
There too, your reassuring presence, coming and going.
This is too much, too wonderful - I can't take it all In!
I actually wanted to be so silent about the celebration
And my naughty brother (Tk) from another mother ask me why,
I can't belief myself that I couldn't answer the question straight away,
He trust my assertion though, so I have to revert....
I really appreciate you all, family, friends.... Names too numerous to mention.

CONTENTMENT

This writeup is with the permission of a humble physician Awoyemi Olutosin Adedayo.

Looking for Happiness?  I am sorry to say you won't find it. For there are many who thinks happiness exists in a foreign land (most times America) or that happiness will be realised when they acquire money and cars. I have lived among men who live in a land of poverty yet had smiles on their faces and joy in their hearts. I have also lived in a land flowing with milk and honey and met the most miserable of all men.

Listen to me young man, happiness flees the heart that is discontent or dissatisfied with his present state. The mind that is confused with subtle suggestions from media and advertisements that he needs a samsung galaxy tab, or a particular kind of car. A mind that thinks she has to have long hair, be as slim as a model or have breast as big as a Hollywood star. This confused minds can never know happiness if they travel to paradise or lay in the laps of riches.

Free your mind from the burden of materialism and covetousness then happiness will come to you without searching . While aspiring for a greater position in life be thankful for what you have right now, be content with your inner man, rely on God who is always with you and will never leave you (Hey 13:5).

Be content and happiness will be your companion.

The Power of Two (2).

Some time in October in the year twenty ten, I laid my body.
It was one of those night sleep won't come easily,  so I decided to look around me and laid my hands on lyrics by Marvin Gaye (an America singer, songwriter and musician).
"One can have a dream, two can make that dream so real.
One can talk about being in love, two can say how it really feels.
One can wish upon a star,  two can make that wish come true.
One can stand alone in the dark, two can make lights shine thro.
One can take a walk in the moonlight, thinking that it's really nice,
But two walking hand in hand is like addin a pinch of spice.
Yeah! It takes Two "
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labour*
one shall chase a thousand and TWO ten thousand**
On waking up I picked my open heavens to catch what God want me see,
WOW!!! Coincidence? Nope, it's a divine arrangement, the topic says "it takes Two to win"
Two is powerful, in it is agreement,
from agreement comes collaborative effort that brings outstanding success which no one can beat.
Looking at it from the anatomical point in human,
2 ear, eye, hands, leg - THE POWER OF TWO
with TWO comes wholeness, multiplier effect, unity, strength,  power and Love.
With GOD on your side your are one man battalion, yea.
because greater is HE that is in me.
Cast all your burden on Him for He cares.

strange act...

Going through my archives, I decided to push this out.
A yoruba adage says "a dog that has been friendly and one day suddenly turns to bark you..." that's strange isn't ?
Unusual or surprising, especially in a way that is difficult to understand is what a strange act is.
This typifies mother eagle; there are many characteristics of the Eagle that you can look at.
Eagles build wonderful nets.
They make wonderful mothers.
After several weeks, the young eagles noticed that mother eagle suddenly changes, she comes to the beautiful net, clear out the feather, break the nets, over turn this comfortable home and begins to push out the eagles one by one and as this young eagles are about to fall to the ground, the mother fly below them to collect them on her wings, she will carry them to the safety of the sky again only to shake her wing for them to fall again, soon the eagles will discover that he too can fly.
Balaams horse put up a strange act * he stopped to change direction, he spoke to let the master know what's happening.
Strange acts goes a long way to communicate an intent that we may not easily understand until we pass through some water.
God sometimes speaks to us in a ways that may look strange, hence the need for discerning spirit - Holy spirit.
